On July 30, the Chicago Blackhawks announced the development of a new state-of-the-art, 125,000-square-foot community training center. Over 90 percent of the training facility’s resources will benefit the wider Chicago community. In addition to serving as the official practice space for the Blackhawks and their visiting opponents, the center will host recreational hockey programs for both youth and adults.
The facility will partner with the Chicago Park District to sponsor several youth programs and resources, including hockey and figure skate rentals, open skate sessions, and hockey leagues and tournaments. In addition, throughout the year, Chicago Blackhawks Charities will host youth hockey clinics for those who are unable to afford other on-ice opportunities, ensuring that the facility serves the entire Chicago community.

Commenting on the newly announced project, Blackhawks Chairman Rocky Wirtz stressed the importance of providing opportunities for children to play hockey. He noted that getting young players on the ice is crucial to the future of the sport as a whole, but that it is especially difficult in urban areas such as Chicago. The new community training center represents the Blackhawks’ dedication to providing valuable opportunities and inspiring a passion for hockey throughout the community.
