The Chicago Bears will face off against the Indianapolis Colts in their second preseason game of the year on August 22, but before taking on the AFC South champions at Lucas Oil Stadium, they’ll join them for two joint practices. Scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, and Thursday, August 20, at the Colts’ training venue in Indianapolis, the practices will give both teams a rare opportunity to warm up with one another ahead of the weekend’s game.
Bears Head Coach John Fox described the practices as “a good opportunity to work against an excellent team,” noting the Colts’ three consecutive playoff appearances in recent years. He also stated that the practice would help the team evaluate its performance, providing a “change-up” to typical training activities. The joint practice will take place just a few days after the Bears conclude their annual training camp, which runs from July 29 to August 16 at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
The Bears last held a joint practice in 2004, during their first season under Coach Lovie Smith. The team traveled to Macomb, Illinois, to join the St. Louis Rams for a training session at Western Illinois University.
